The picture Lewis paints in Going Infinite of SBF, FTX and in particular the EA movement is far from rosy. In fact it is in some ways the most damning indictment of SBF as a person I have read. That Lewis is being screamed at for being a Sam shill is ludicrous and shows how in this polarized age we can't handle anything more complex than "Is this person a) a goodie, b) a baddie?"

Can someone explain to me: how is this different from a "normal" bank? Isn't a normal bank also using its customers money to invest elsewhere and would it not be evenly f**kd if a bankrun occured where most of the customers want their money back? Surely banks could only cash out a tiny percentage of what the customers hold there and the rest is somehow invested? what do I not get here?

Id rather spend money on a yacht. people think its conspicuous consumption but its ANYTHING but that. you are employing literally hundreds of people in the yachting and yacht services industry. tons of small artisans too. sourcing food in random countries and sourcing materials is a full time specialized job.
