Tether Vows to Freeze Sanction-Linked Addresses Amid USDT Scrutiny

As scrutiny over the misuse of Tether’s USDT stablecoin intensifies, the corporate pledges to take decisive motion towards addresses linked to sanctions violations.

Tether, the issuer of the favored USDT stablecoin, has introduced its dedication to freezing any addresses related to sanctioned entities. This proactive stance follows studies indicating the exploitation of USDT tokens by sure state actors to evade US sanctions.

A spokesperson for Tether said, “Tether respects the Workplace of Overseas Belongings Management (OFAC) SDN listing and is dedicated to working to make sure sanction addresses are frozen promptly.”

Prior to now 12 months, Tether has actively frozen addresses holding substantial quantities of its digital belongings concerned in illicit actions. For instance, the corporate froze 32 addresses containing $873,118.34 linked to illegal actions in Israel and Ukraine.
