I remember when bitcoin was brand new……… I didn't "get it" so I never bought any,. Seems like the earliest days were the ones to play and today not so much.
My favorite was the guy claiming NFTs are the future of gaming, because "Imagine that you bought an NFT gun for one game, and decide you want to use it in another game. You own it, so you can just take it to that game and use it there! It's just like DLC, except you actually own it, so you can use it anywhere."
Mortal Kombat requires compatibility updates every time they add a new DLC character that you haven't bought just so you can see them when you're playing online with other people and not have the game crash because it's data you don't have access to, and these are assets from the *same game*. Not only would the concept of taking an NFT gun from one game to the next cause horrendous balancing issues, but unless these games are all entirely on the same engine with copy and paste code, which to begin with would make every single game a boring clone of each other, it would be physically impossible to take an asset designed for one game and just plop it into another and expect it to work without retweaking the game's code in some way.
Just because someday the Sun will likely fart hard enough to fry all servers and transducers, I think it's wiser to invest in illegal drugs than Cryptos. But feck do I know, I'm not an investor.
